Access to healthcare and education

Assignment task:

Check for flow: Another critical factor is access to healthcare and education. Rural communities often face challenges with limited access to healthcare and educational resources, which can have long-term impacts on the well-being and development of their residents. According to an article from the Journal of Rural Health, "Rural residents are more likely than urban residents to visit the emergency department due to potential causes such as shortages of primary care providers and preventive services" (Khushalani et al., 2023). In Duplin County, residents are fortunate to not have to travel far to reach the nearest hospital as they have one hospital in Kenansville called ECU Health Duplin Hospital. Educational opportunities in rural areas, such as Duplin Cointy, are often limited by fewer schools to choose from. This can impact the opportunities for higher education and professional advancement. These disparities highlight the need for funding to bridge the gap between rural and urban communities, ensuring residents of Duplin County have equitable access to the resources and opportunities necessary for their overall health being and development.
