A typical power plant uses some fuel as the source of heat

A typical power plant uses some fuel as the source of heat (QH) to drive a heat engine that does work (W) to drive a generator that is connected to the electrical grid. Inevitably, waste heat (QC) is dumped into a river or lake. Analysis of the plant is usually done in terms of power rather than energy. To analyze the cooling system rate of flow is used. What is rate of flow? How do we find the power?
