A typical hierarchy of Information Systems for a large corporation would include three basic layers, the TPS, MIS (or DSS) and the ESS. As the manager of a large corporation's Information Systems Department understanding how these three interact as well as are [somewhat] independent is critical as to how you would address correcting or improving the timeliness of information as well as its visual presentation (Dashboards).
