Biology and Environmental Science Pelicans have a long flat bill and expandable pouch, and use a spectacular dive-bomb-type plunge into the water to capture fish. A random sample of pelicans at Tigertail Beach on Marco Island was obtained. The height of a plunge was measured (in feet) for each bird, and the data are given in the following table.
