A piece of digital media strategy

A piece of digital media strategy:

Task:

Write a piece of digital media strategy consists of a blog post plus an Instagram post and either a Facebook post or a Tweet (overall, 800 – 1,000 words in total).

How to get started:

You are about to launch a London-based blog and looking to write the first post.

Write a blog post about an aspect, activity, object, building, market (you name it) of London that is unique to your own experience of living in London. You want the blog post to invite comments and hopefully attract new followers – you expect these to be either students, or people who are interested in visiting London, or people who are interested in the specific aspect of London you will be writing about.

I choose to write about “Harrods”

• The blog post should contain at least two original photographs (that you have taken yourself).
• It should be hyperlinked to its sources (on a word processor, select ‘insert’ and then ‘insert hyperlink’)
• It should effectively cater for its target audience (as outlined above)
• It should be interesting and/or fun to read, and should provide an original and personal viewpoint over the topic you will be writing about.

Prepare an Instagram post based on your chosen topic – this will address a similar audience but should be much shorter and selective than your blog post. It should also invite for some sort of response from your readers.

Add either a Facebook post or a Tweet – Facebook audiences may be different from Instagram audience, so make sure your writing reflects the change of audience. A Tweet will be significantly shorter than any other post (140 characters), so reflect on which piece of information you will include in your Tweet.
