Question 1: Identify typical graduate selection processes and evaluate your own strengths and weaknesses in the process of applying for a job.
Demonstrate your understanding of the range of selection methods that are used by graduate employers and the rationale for using them. Evaluate your own abilities in creating an effective CV and application form and reflect on your performance and feedback from the mock interview and assessment centres and any other job application experiences you may have.
Question 2: An evaluation of your contribution to teamwork during this module.
The focus here is on the importance of teamwork within the workplace. Consider how you have worked with others in a group setting during the course of this module and in particular reflect on your experiences during the group challenges and the mock assessment centres.
Question 3: A reflective account - Compare and contrast your own experience, skills and behaviours with those valued by graduate employers.
The reflective account is your opportunity to demonstrate your ability to learn from your experiences as an undergraduate student and look ahead to consider how they may be useful to you in the future. Your comments should be supported by evidence and examples from any aspects of your life including work, study, family and extracurricular activities. Consider:
- What experience, skills and behaviours are valued by typical graduate employers and why
- Reflect on experiences you have had generally that have impacted on your current level of employability - this could be work, volunteering, sports, etc.
- Include what have you learnt about yourself from activities on this module in particular.
Question 4: A personal career development plan and commentary on the challenges you will face in undertaking it.
Your development plan should focus on a specific area of development that you want to address. You are responsible for identifying a clearly defined career goal using the smart framework and the plan should then include the following features:
- Specific objectives that will enable you to reach your career goal
- Detail of the activities you need to undertake to achieve your objectives
- An indication of timescales and how you would monitor each activity to ensure it contributes to the final outcome stated.
- Challenges and barriers you may face in undertaking this action plan and identify how their impact may be minimized.
