A person was seen running from the scene of a convenient store robbery. After an extensive chase on foot the police catch the suspected robber. Scared and confused the suspect screams "I am sorry, I did not mean to do it". He has now confessed to the crime. The police place him in handcuffs and read his "rights" to him. Once at the police station, the suspect says he did not rob the store. Can his earlier confession be used against him.? Explain and discuss.
