Byronic Heroes
Everyone experiences the resentful emotion of envy. As humans we all have reflected jealousy towards another's possessions, qualities, and achievements. However, envision being the one who is envied by so many for having such idealized attributes, but all of this means nothing to you. You are a "rebel without a cause", "beautiful but damned", and "larger than life". Your dark qualities are the cause for your depression and isolation from others. Your "heroic" qualities have allowed you to achieve so much, but are overshadowed by your conflicted mind and emotions. Despite all your success and having so many people envy you, you're extremely consiouc and destructive to yourself.
"A man proud, moody, cynical, with defiance on his brow, and misery in his heart, a scorner of his kind, implacable in revenge, yet capable of deep and strong affection" (Fleming 615).
