A beam of unpolarized light (at wavelength 550 nm) is incident normally on the face of a sapphire (Al2O3) crystal which is 1 cm thick. The optic axis of the crystal is at an angle of 60 ? with respect to the normal to the incident face. At the exit face of the crystal, two beams are seen to emerge. Draw the propagation vectors of the incident, transmitted and emerging beams and ?nd the distance between the two beams that come out of the crystal. Also, give the polarization states of the two emergent beams.
