9Story Entertainment Inc., a privately owned corporation headquartered in Toronto, started as a production studio in 2002. It has since broadened its scope into a full production and distribution organization, specializing in animated shows for children and their families. To-date these productions have appeared on television in more than fifty countries.
In 2011 9Story launched a new show called Almost Naked Animals, the show is carried on YTV. It consists of approximately fifty eleven-minute episodes targeted to children six to eleven years of age. The show is an "irreverent, fast-paced comedy featuring underwear-clad animals ... set at [a] beachfront hotel."
The company is looking to refresh it digital marketing program and has asked Centennial College to assist in this endeavour. The producers of the show have already formulated some ideas regarding the strategy they want to implement: their first priority is to generate new excitement on the web among the target audience for the show; secondarily, the producers want to target mothers, probably on the web, too. For the purposes of this assignment, our primary focus is children with mother being a secondary target.
Why does 9Story need our assistance? ! 9Story wants to be in digital environments that children are on and it wants to offer attractions and activities that children enjoy - but it does not know where children are engaging on the web, and it does not know what kinds of things children are doing on the web - what they like doing, what excites them, what bores them, what drives them away from a website, and so on.
