Answer: The main argument against scientific management is that in de-skilling craft work it has lowered the quality of working life of the labour force, and exposed it to exploitation by unscrupulous managements. The argument for it, is that the deskilling is the price that has been paid for the astonishing increase in living standards, health, education and leisure, enjoyed in the developed economies; in his Principles, Taylor argued strongly that his methods could only be properly applied if the resulting productivity gains were shared fairly between workers and owners.
