Write a short essay (2 pages, doubled-spaced) answering the following prompt:
1) Thrasymachus' challenge to morality. a) Give a presentation of Thrasymachus' view about justice. Then (b) present one of Socrates' arguments against it, choosing the argument that seems to you more persuasive.
Suggestions: - For part (a), focus on Republic, Book I, especially pp. 13-22. You may also find helpful to look at Glaucon's reformulation of Thrasymachus' view in Book II. - For part (b), look at Republic, Book I. You might find helpful to look at the lecture slides posted on Canvas, which distinguish 5 arguments by Socrates against Thrasymachus. - Concerning (b), notice that "more persuasive" is a comparative term. You don't have to find any of Socrates' arguments persuasive in absolute terms. Just pick the argument that seems to you better than the other ones.
