Myasthenia Gravis:
This above disease affects one in 20,000 persons. It causes the person to become paralysed since of inability of neuromuscular junction to transmit signals from the nerve to muscle fiber. The muscles affected involve those utilized in breathing, walking, chewing, and talking. A characteristic sign of the disease is drooping eyelids. Myasthenia gravis most frequently affects women among the ages of 20 and 30, though it can strike anyone after puberty.
It is supposed that myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disease in which the patients have generated antibodies against their own acetylcholine activated ion channels.
