Arthritis:

Arthritis is the inflammation of all the structures and components of the joints. It includes synovium, articular surfaces and capsule.

Numerous etiological factors are attributed to the source of Arthritis (arthritogenesis). They are diet, infections, psycho-somatic illness, diseases and metabolic abnormalities, and so forth.

Types of arthritis comprise:

1. Infective arthritis: -

Infections like Staphylococcal, Gonococcal, Streptococcal, Rheumatic, Tuberculosis, Small Pox, Syphilitic, Guinea worms, and so on, can cause damages at the joints. It generates pain in joints.

2. Rheumatic arthritis: -

This is characterized by focal degeneration of the articular cartilage.  In the later phase, the cartilage gets eroded and exposing the sclerosed bone.

4. Metabolic arthritis:- 

Metabolic arthritis is due to the metabolic disorders. It is a disease due to an inborn fault of Purine metabolism. It is generally called gout. This situation is characterized by the deposition of Sodium Urate crystals (i.e., uric acid) on the synovial membrane, articular cartilage and in the periarticular tissues. Gout is characterized by onset of the pain swelling and reddening of the joints.
