To build the block in UML for an  application things ( objects) are defined and the  relationship among  them are defined. At last  complete UML diagram is made.

Things are the abstractions  that are  present as entity in a model. There are four  kinds  of things  in UML

1. Structural Things: Structural things  are the nouns of UML models. They are mostly the static parts  of  a models. There are  seven kinds  of structural things:

  • Interaction: Interaction is a behaviour that comprises a set of messages exchanged among a set of objects within a particular context to accomplish a specific purpose.
  • State machine: A machine shows behaviour that specifics the sequence of states of an objects.

3. Grouping Things: Grouping things  are the  organizational parts of UML models. These are the boxes into which  can be  decomposed. There is  only one  kind  of grouping  things i. .e. package  is a mechanism for organizing  elements into  groups.

4. An notational Things: An notational  things  are the explanatory parts of UML models. There are  the comments  applied to describe illuminate and  remark about  any element in a model. It should be  noted that it is simply a symbol for rendering  constraints and comments attached to an elements or a collection of elements.
