The nucleocapsid is bounded by a lipid envelope derived from the infected cell’s nuclear membrane. Viral glycoprotein spikes measuring 8nm in length are existed on the surface of the envelope. An amorphous structure, having numerous proteins found between the envelope and capsid is designated the tegument. The enveloped virion measures 120 to 200 nm; and the naked virion, measures 100nm.
