  Genus Leishmania

Genus Leishmania:

This genus is termed after Sir William Leishman by Ross in the year 1903. It exists in blood and tissues of vertibrates as amastigote form. In culture and in insects as promastigote form. They consists both vertibrate and insect as hosts. The species parasitic to man are Leishmania tropica, Leishmania donovani, and Leishmania brasiliensis.

Habitat:
