Introduction to IELTS:
International English Language Testing System or simply IELTS is designed to evaluate the language skill of candidates who want to study or work where English is the language of communication.
It is generally recognized as a reliable means of considering whether the candidates are ready to study or for getting training in the English Medium. IELTS is mainly a test of English language ability. This test is employed as an evidence of the candidate's aptitude for immigration and also for study aims. Reason of taking IELTS:

The four sections of IELTS:
1) The academic reading test:
The section is a 1-hour test in 3 parts having 40 questions based on 1 reading text per section. The length of Academic reading test will be between 2000 to 2750 words. The applicants are provided with a question paper and an answer paper. They might write on the question paper however they might not take away it from the test room after the test.
2) The academic writing test:
The writing test is around 1 hour duration. Candidates are needed to do 2 tasks.
Task 1 asks the candidate to explain in his or her own words factual description provided to the candidate in pictorial form. This could be a bar chart, line graph, pie chart, a table or a picture explaining a procedure. Candidates should write a minimum of around150 words.
Task 2 asks the candidate to write down an essay on a general academic topic or issue. Candidates should write a minimum of around 250 words.
3) The academic speaking test:
The test is conducted having 1 examiner and 1 candidate. The Academic Speaking test is recorded. The Academic Speaking Test is sub-divided into three sections.
Section 1: It starts with some general introductory questions. This is followed by a number of questions on personal information. At last the examiner asks a series of questions of 2 topics of your general interest.
Section 2: It is a monologue (that is, 1 person speaking) by the candidate. The examiner will provide the candidate a card with a subject and some guiding questions on it. The student should speak for 1 to 2 minutes on the subject. After the talk of the candidate the examiner will ask 1 or 2 short questions in order to end off the section.
Section 3: In this the examiner will ask some more questions normally allied to the subject spoken about in the second section. These questions will be more challenging and need some vital analysis on the part of the candidate.
4) The academic listening test:
In this test, the candidates will listen to a tape and answer a sequence of questions. The tape will be played just ONCE. The Academic Listening Test is sub-divided into four sections with 10 questions in each (that is, a net of 40 questions) and will last for around 30 minutes with an additional 10 minutes at the end to transfer answers to the OMR sheet.
Locations and the dates of test:
There are around 48 test dates available every year. Each test centre provides tests up to 4-times a month depending on local demand. There will be a least time limit of 90 days before which a person was not permitted to retake the test. Tough this limitation has been inhibited and presently there is no limit for candidates to retake the test.
