Introduction to Third-Generation Languages (High Level Languages):

In third-generation languages or high level languages, instructions are written by using English language along with symbols and digits. Third-generation languages are as well termed as high level languages (HLL). The usually employed high level languages are COBOL, PASSCAL, FORTRAN, BASIC, PROLOG, C, C++, etc. The whole instruction set written in one of these languages is termed a source program or computer program.

To execute the instructions, the source program is converted into binary form through an interpreter or compiler.
