Introduction to Terminals and Power Cord:

The ends of the heating elements are linked at the points termed as terminals as displayed in the heating element (type 3). The electric supply is provided the coil terminals by 3 core power cord.

Pressure plate:

Pressure plate is made up of cast iron and the aim is to keep the heating element securely against the sole-plate. It is insulated from heating element through asbestos sheet of similar shape. The asbestos sheet is located just above the heating element to avoid the heat that is developed in the element travelling upward because of the conduction and radiation.

Cover:

Cover comes above the pressure plat. This part covers the internal connections of heating element of the iron. It as well works as a shield to protect the hands of the user from the produced heat and the electric terminals.

Handle:

Handle is made of Bakelite or ebonite since it presents high resistance to flow current and it can withstand more heat. The power socket and indicator lamp are fixed in the handle.

Heel plate:

The aim of the heel plate is to allow the iron to stand while the iron is tilted back on the rear of its handle
