Introduction to Full-Duplex
A simple example of a full-duplex communication system even though full-duplex is not general handheld radios because of the cost and complexity of general duplexing methods.
A full duplex, or occasionally known as double-duplex system, permits communication in both of the directions, and not like half-duplex that permits this to take place simultaneously. The networks of Land line telephone are full- duplex. Because they permits both of the callers be heard and to speak at similar time. A good conclusion for a full- duplex system would be a two-lane road along with one lane for each direction.
For example: Mobile phone, Telephone, etc
Two-way radios could be for example, intended as full-duplex systems that transmit on one frequency and receive on a dissimilar frequency. This is also termed as frequency-division duplex. Frequency- division duplex systems can be expanded to further than distances using pairs of simple repeater stations, since the communications transmitted on any one frequency all the time travel in similar direction.
Full duplex Ethernet connections work through creating concurrent use of two physical pairs of twisted cable in which one pair is employed for receiving packets and another pair is employed for sending packets to a directly connected device. This efficiently creates the cable itself a collision free environment and doubles the maximum data capacity which can be supported through the connection.
There are various advantages to using full-duplex in place of half-duplex.
1st- the precious time is not wasted, because no frames require to be retransmitted, like there are no collisions.
2nd- the full data capacity is presented in both directions since receive and send functions are not connected.
3rd- stations or also known as nodes do not have to wait until others complete their transmission, because there is only one transmitter for every twisted pair.
Historically a number of computers computer based systems of the 1960s and 1970s needed full-duplex services even for half-duplex operation, since their poll- and response schemes could not accept the slight delays in reversing the transmission's direction in a half-duplex line.
