Introduction to Deflection Yoke:
The placement of the two pairs of coils physically around the neck of the picture tube is demonstrated in diagram and the orientation of the magnetic fields generated through them is displayed in diagram. In combination, the vertical and horizontal deflection coils are termed as 'Yoke'. This yoke is set outside and close to the neck of the tube just before it starts to flare out.
The magnetic field of the coils responds along with the electron beam to cause deflection of it. The horizontal deflection coil that sweeps the beam beyond the face of the tube from left to right is divides into two sections and mounted below and above the beam axis. The vertical deflection coil is also divide into and placed left and right on the neck to pull the beam increasingly downward like the horizontal coils sweep the beam beyond the tube face. Each coil gets its particular sweep, input from the related sweep circuits, and jointly they from the raster' on which the picture information is traced. It may be noticed that a perpendicular displacement results .since the magnetic field because of each coil reacts with the magnetic field of the electron beam to generate a force that deflects the electrons at right angles to both the beam axis and the deflection field.
ASPECT RATIO
Generally the picture tubes are manufactured according to the following ratio. It is the ratio among length and height of the picture tube. The ratio is 4:3.
KELL FACTOR
Throughout scanning in a raster all 625 horizontal lines are not totally employed. Between those 40 lines each frame (20 lines per field) are used for vertical blanking.
Therefore 625-40 = 585 lines are called as Active lines. Between these 70% lines are alone termed as Effective lines and this is known as Kell factor.
CAMERA TUBE
A Television camera tube might be known as the eye of a Television system.
Four types of camera tubes expressed as follow:
1. Iconoscope
2. Image Orthicon
3. Vidicon
4. Plumbicon
The very firstly developed storage type of camera tube was 'Iconoscope' that has now been replaced through image-orthicon of high light sensitivity of it, stability and high quality picture abilities.
To the incident illumination the light sensitivity is the ratio of the signal output. Subsequently to be developed was the vidicon and is much simpler in operation. Identical to the vidicon is other tube termed as plumbicon.
