Procedure for micropropagation:
In this technique, a small segment of explants is cultured in a nutrient medium; the explants might be a meristametic tissue of a stem tip, an inflorescence and so on. The explant tissue generates callus during the period of incubation. After the production of adequate amount of callus tissue, and the callus is sub-cultured in a fresh M.S. Medium having growth hormones cytokinin and auxin.
The adequately developed calluses are then transferred to the regeneration medium where the calluses are induced to generate shoots and roots. After the proper development of shoots and roots, the individual planets are transferred to pots in a green house for further subsistence.
At times the callus tissue can be homogenized and the homogenate is directly plated on the medium. Cell masses of the homogenate grow up and generate new plantlets.
