Several green plants are self- dependent, since they synthesize their own food materials through photosynthesis. Clinging roots set the epiphytes to the bark of the tree and as well absorb the little nutrients that found in the debris accumulating on the bark. The aerial roots hang about in the air. These roots are generally green and covered through a spongy tissue termed as velamen that absorbs the moisture in the air also rain water. Example- Vanda.
