Without positioner can we use a control valve?
Expert
Control valve cannot be employed without positioner. The reason of the positioner is to control the control valve stroke so as to stay the valve in desired location. The positioner obtains signal from the controller, and send the increased signal to the actuator to reach the desired location as and when the valve reaches the desired location the positioner cuts the boosted signal to the actuator and keeps the location.
