Most pteridophytes have subterraneous stems parallel to the substrate known as rhizomes. Xaxim refers to the type of pteridophyte having an aerial stem usually perpendicular to the soil and from which hundreds of the roots arise in order to absorb the water from environment. The xaxim stem is used in order to form the flower pots and other plant supports for the gardening (also popularly termed as the xaxim).
