UNIX refers to the most popular operating system on the multi-user systems. This operating system is originated as a single-user system. It started off over a cast-off DEC PDP-7 at the Bell laboratories in year 1969. Ken Thompson, having the ideas and help from the Dennis Ritchie and others, wrote a small, general-purpose operating system.
