The smallest geographical area that is covered by the wireless communication is known as a cell.

Three shapes termed as:

a. Circle   

b. Square   

c. Hexagon,

were proposed for the cell. However, the coverage of signal was very accurate along with the hexagonal shaped cells and in later stage it was taken as the standard.
