Expert
Sarcomeres refers to the contractile units of muscle tissue which is formed of alternating actin blocks i.e, thin filaments and myosin blocks i.e. thick filaments. Various sarcomeres are generally placed in the linear sequence forming the myofibril. Consequently, one muscle fiber has several myofibrils which is made up of the sacomeres. The compartments in which myofibrils are inserted are delimited by the excitable membrane which is known as sarcolemma. The sarcolemma refers to the plasma membrane of muscle cell.
