The data unit within the LLC level is known as the protocol data unit (PDU). The PDU consists of the four fields: a source service access point (SSAP), a destination service access point (DSAP), a control field and an information field. DSAP, SSAP are the addresses which are used by LLC in order to recognize the protocol stacks upon receiving and sending the machines which are producing and utilizing the data. Control field describes whether PDU frame refers to an information frame or the supervisory frame or an unnumbered frame.
