Proteinuria means losing of proteins through the urine. Under normal conditions proteins are too big to get filtered through the glomerulus and they are absent in the urine. Proteinuria is considered as an indication that more than expected amount of proteins is passing through the glomerulus suggesting the glomerular disease, like, in diabetic nephropathy. The glomerulus also blocks the passage of blood cells and platelets.
