What is Finance Letter

Finance Letter (FL): The proposals made, by the Director of Finance to the chairpersons of the budget committees in each and every house, to amend the Budget Bill and the Governor's Budget from that presented on January 10 to reflect a revised plan of expenses for the budget year and/or present year. Particularly, the Department of Finance is needed to give the Legislature with updated expenses and revenue information for all the policy adjustments by April 1, capital outlay technical modifications by May 1, and modifications for caseload, population, enrollment, reorganized revenues, and Proposition 98 by May 14.
