Exploratory testing refers to the hands-on approach where the testers are included in the execution of minimum planning and the maximum test. Planning includes creation of test charter, a short description of scope of the short time-boxed test effort, objectives and possible approaches to be utilized. Test design and the test execution activities are carried out in the parallel generally without formally documenting test conditions, test cases or test scripts. This does not describe that the other, more formal testing techniques cannot be used.
