Describe the term checksum. Explain the steps that are carried out in the generation of the checksum?

The checksum are generated as follows:
a) The units are divided into the k sections each of n bits.
b) All the sections are then added together using the 2’s complement to obtain the sum.
c) The sum is then complemented and results in the checksum.
d) The checksum is sent along with the data.
