Antigen-antibody reactions are very specific, however in certain cases antibody elicited by one antigen can cross react with the other antigen. This reaction is termed as cross-reaction and the antigen which generates cross-reaction is termed as cross-reactive antigen. Cross-reaction is due to the existence of two or more antigenic determinants on the associated antigen.
