Collective bargaining means a procedure of discussions among employers and a grouping of employees. The main reason is to reach an agreement to control the working conditions.
The collective bargaining mainly consists of four kinds of activities which are illustrated below:
i) Distributive bargaining – it is also termed as conjunctive bargaining, this type of bargaining aims at redistribution of benefits among the management and the group of employees. In this type of bargaining, one group expands while the further looses something.
ii.) Integrative bargaining – it is also termed as cooperative bargaining; this type of bargaining is for overall step up in the working of the organization. No party looses here, as a result, the level of co-operation is more.
iii.) Attitudinal restructuring – This type of bargaining mostly aims at developing a change in the attitude of the employees and the management. The reason is to decrease the bitterness and expand a congenial atmosphere.
iv.) Intra-organizational bargaining – This type of bargaining aims at attaining the consensus in the management group and trade union.
