This is one of the structures for local area networks. In this topology, the network cable passes from one node to the other till all nodes are joined in the form of a loop or ring. There is a direct point-to-point link among two neighboring nodes. Such links are unidirectional that makes sure that the transmission by a node traverses the entire ring and comes back to the node, which made the transmission. Ring Network topology is mainly suitable for organizations which require a centralized database or centralized processing facility.
