Parthenogenesis is reproduction or arrangement of a new particular from the egg cell but with no fecundation by the male gamete. According to the species, particulars born by parthenogenesis can be male or female, or of any other sex. In bees the drone (the single male bee) is haploid and born by parthenogenesis whereas the females (queen and workers) are diploid.
