What are hydrophobic molecules

What are hydrophobic molecules (or hydrophobic molecular areas)? Describe hydrophilic molecules? How can they be characterized in association to their polarity?

Hydrophobic molecules are such that contain little or no propensity to dissolve in water (hydro = water, phobia = fear).

Hydrophilic molecules are such that encompass great propensity to dissolve in the water (philia = friendship).

The water is a polar substance. Keeping in mind that the rule which “equal dissolves equal” one can wrap up that hydrophobic substances are non-polar molecules whereas hydrophilic molecules are polar molecules.
