Expert
Fossil fuels, such as gas, oil, and coal, form when the organic material is preserved from complete action of decomposers, generally buried deep and under pressure for the millions of years. Under such conditions, organic material gets converted into the hydrocarbon fuels.
Fossil fuels are natural reservatory of the carbon. When oxygen is present, these fuels may be burned and carbon dioxide or carbon monoxide are released into the atmosphere.
