Distinguish between unshielded twisted pair (abbreviated as UTP) and Shielded twisted pair (abbreviated as STP)?

The most generally employed form of twisted pair is unshielded twisted pair (that is, UTP). It is merely two insulated wires twisted altogether. Some data communication cables and normal telephone cables are of this kind. Shielded twisted pair (that is, STP) varies from UTP in that it has a foil jacket which helps in saving crosstalk and noise from exterior source. In data communications there is a cable type termed as FTP (that is, foil-shielded pairs) that comprises of four twisted pair within one common shield (made up of aluminum foil).
