Giardiasis is a protozoal infection caused by the Giardia lamblia, or simply giardia, a flagellate protozoan.

The transmission is the fecal-oral, through the contaminated water and food or taken by insects such flies and cockroaches. Giardiasis manifests such as amebiasis, asan enteritis with abdominal pain, diarrhea, weight loss and anemia.
