Type I diabetes, also called as juvenile diabetes, or insulin-dependent diabetes (this name is inadequate as type II diabetes may also become insulin-dependent), is impaired production of the insulin by the pancreas which is believed to be caused due to destruction of cells of “islets of Langerhans” through the auto-antibodies (autoimmunity).

Type II diabetes takes place within the adult individual and it is often diagnosed within the people of more advanced age. In type II diabetes, there is normal or low liberation of the insulin by pancreas thought the major cause of the high glycemia includes the peripheral resistance of cells to the action of the hormone.
