How do plants solve the problem of transporting the substances throughout their tissues?

In the bryophytes, the substance transport is completed through the diffusion. In tracheophytes (gymnosperms, pteridophytes and angiosperms) there exist the specialized conductive vessels, the xylem which carries the water and mineral salts and the phloem which conducts the organic material (sugar).
