Explain another means for the transportation of substances in the animals without having a circulatory system? Why blood is more essential for larger animals?

Animals which do not have circulatory system the transportation of substances occurs by cell to cell through the diffusion. The blood is primary means of transportation of substances for the larger animals as in these animals there exist tissues at large distance from each other and also from the environment therefore making diffusion impossible.
