Arachnids and Insects and are the arthropod animals which make tracheal respiration. In body surface of such animals there are numerous orifices termed as spiracles which communicate with small tubules, the tracheae, via which air penetrates and carbon-dioxide is expelled. The tracheae ramify into tracheoles which reach all tissues of the animal.

In circulatory system of insects, the blood just transports nutrients; gases are separately transported by the tracheal system.
