The plasmodium infects human blood causing destruction of red blood cells and it also affects liver. Malaria typifies by the periodical episodes of fever, chills and sweating which can be accompanied by headache, vomiting, nausea and jaundice. The destruction of red blood cells might lead to hypoxemia and anemia.

The infection by Plasmodium falciparum if not treated can cause extra complications and even death.
