Size of a molecule that makes a substance antigenic
Briefly explain regarding size of a molecule, that makes a substance antigenic.
Expert
The molecule size of an antigen has a direct relation to the antigenesity. Very big molecules like haemocyanin (that is, 6.7 million Daltons) and thymoglobulin (that is, 669 kd) are very antigenic whereas low molecular weight compounds whose molecular weight is less than 10,000 Daltons are very poor antigenic. Example: Histones and Insulin.
