The hormones which are formed by the thyroid gland stimulate the basal metabolism of the body. In hyperthyroidism there exist the abnormally high production and secretion of the T3 and T4 thus; the basal metabolic rate is increased. The signs of such condition can be tachycardia (abnormally high heart rate), excessive heat sensation, excessive sweating, weight loss, anxiety, and so on. One of the typical signs of the hyperthyroidism includes exophthalmos (protrusion of the eyeballs). Generally, the patient also have goiter.
