The body of tapeworm is finished of segments named proglottids. The proglottids are reproductive structures of taenia and hold the organs which make male and female gametes. As the proglottids become distant from scolex (head) they mature. Mature proglottids can fecundate themselves or neighboring ones and an egg formed is stored inside them. Proglottids named pregnant proglottids, full of eggs, detach from body of the worm and are eliminated with human feces.
